Have you used Google to look for “how to start a workout routine”? You probably found some great advice from well known sources.
Take the Mayo Clinic, for example. They have five steps for you, with detailed instructions on their site:
- Assess fitness level.
- Design program.
- Assemble equipment.
- Monitor progress.
We’re not one to disagree with the Mayo Clinic! But for the average person, those steps may seem far from simple. Most people don’t know how to assess their own fitness, while even fewer know how to program workouts and monitor progress.
While you can start working out with little to no equipment, if you want it, fitness equipment isn’t cheap or easy to find right now. If you decide to buy anything, you may feel overwhelmed with making the right decision. What should you buy? How do you use it?
At NIKA, we want you to start a fitness program in 2021, preferably today, and we believe any activity is better than no activity. You can start working out by taking a short daily walk. From there, increase the distance little by little every day, and you will eventually see some progress!
But the list from the Mayo Clinic places a lot of pressure on a person to research, plan, purchase, and assess. We get that it all can feel totally overwhelming! We know this because we started there ourselves and a lot of our members came to us after trying to start exercising but became confused. Some even quit trying before eventually coming to us.
We’re here to simplify the Mayo Clinic’s list for you: All we ask you to do is work on Number 4.
